Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park can be your fix.<br /><br />About a 2.5 hour drive from Las Vegas, the state park is located near the Arizona border in southwestern Utah and does live up to its name. It is amazing to see and photograph as the dunes transform from a common tan color into a magical place of beauty. Best to photograph beginning in the late afternoon, the dune's colors shift going from tan, to yellow and finally peaks, becoming a vibrant pink right at sunset.<br /><br />Upside:<br />The dunes are worth the trip for any photographer who likes the abstract shapes, shadows the unique hues that only this sea of sand can provide.<br /><br />Downside:<br />The park is popular especially during the summer so it can be a challenge to find pristine dunes. Off-road vehicles are permitted but for the most part ride the dunes in the northern portion of the park and aren't too much of an issue. Tourists on the other hand tend to like to walk the largest dune in the park near the viewing area which can be a problem.<br /><br />Photo Tips:<br />To increase your chances of pristine dunes, best to go during the middle of the week and never during holidays.<br /><br />Check the weather. Although it is always nice to have some fluffy clouds in the sky, too many is not good. Sunshine is a must! A windy day is good for erasing footprints...<br /><br />Once again late afternoon to sunset is the best time to shoot the dunes but always allow enough time (2 hours) to scout the area for the best angles.<br /><br />The park offers both tent and RV camping and most of the spots large and offer pretty good privacy. Restroom and shower facilites are wll maintained and very clean.
